Green Planet Coffeeshop is located on Spuistraat (translates as Lock Street), not far from the famous Amsterdam city landmarks of the Royal Palace and De Nieuwe Kerk (The New Church).
This is a fairly unassuming shop from the outside. It is located in the basement of a building with only a couple of small windows in front. The immediate area also tends to see traffic passing through than hanging around. Though its building’s brick façade is quite beautiful, it can still be easy to miss Green Planet.
This is far from the largest coffeeshop in Amsterdam. The room inside Green Planet is small. Further, its two small windows do not let in a whole lot of natural light. That would not be to say this is an unappealing coffeeshop, however. To the contrary, the interior is quite updated and contemporary. Seating is provided in the form of small table/stool sets and full-sized benches. It is quite an interesting mix, actually. There is a modern grey mica counter where you order your cannabis products and extras, with a lot of cool neon accent lighting around. It feels like a nightclub; the kind of place that features black (UV) lights or a bubble machine. Only, there is not much room to pack the people in here. This shop is much more personal and private.
The most notable feature of Green Planet is probably the outdoor seating. On warm sunny days, the management places out table and chair sets. Spuistraat has a wide sidewalk, so there is plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy some time at a coffeeshop “al fresco.”
Green Planet has a cannabis menu that is moderate in size. On the weed-side, you should find a lot of tradition favorites; though they are likely to also stock a few contemporary strains. Hashish is mainly in the form of imports from Morocco. Though this shop is in the city center, pricing tends to be a touch more reasonable here than in some of the more high-profile shops. They also serve some basic drinks and snacks here.
The best hash in town
