Coffeeshop Johnny is found on Elandsgracht (Elks Canal), in the more residential and upscale Jordaan district. This is a beautiful section of the city center, packed with historic buildings and tranquil canals to enjoy.
This coffeeshop is easily spotted when walking on the street by its bright white and red wooden facade out front. Inside, Johnny is a modern shop. Its décor includes cleanly painted walls, contemporary light-colored wainscoting on the walls, plenty of additional wood trim, and thick, white mica counters. Glass-shelved display cases also show off the shop’s cannabis stock, various smoking accessories, and shop memorabilia. The best way to put the interior of Johnny into words would probably be “high-end clinical”.
Seating at this shop is limited. It is largely a take-away establishment, though there are a couple of stools if you want to sit at the counter, and a few more by the front window. Otherwise, patrons will find a small smoking area to the side of this shop. This is partitioned off from the main counter area with a wall/door of glass. This allows tobacco smoking in the establishment, of course. Most, however, use the area to roll a quick joint before hitting the road.
The cannabis menu at Coffeeshop Johnny reflects the modern feel of this shop. It has been computerized; found on screens that have been built into the main counter. This shop has recently started working with Amsterdam Genetics, an established, reputable breeder. As such, the quality of their menu should be very high. On the weed-side, expect to see many modern hybrids. For hashish, a mix of domestic (isolator) and imported sieved and pressed varieties, including the highly flavorful block hashes from Morocco.
In addition to cannabis, Johnny serves a variety of coffees, tea, and soft drinks.
This shop is featured in our 368 page Hardcover book CONNOISSEUR GUIDE: AMSTERDAM COFFEESHOPS. A MUST-HAVE for any serious visitor to the Amsterdam scene, it is the first book ever to profile all 168 coffeeshops in the city, with vivid full-color pictures, detailed descriptions, amenities, and locals/regulars recommendations for the "best of" shops in a variety of categories.

This coffeeshop stands for quality and fair prices. Small but great coffeeshop. Locals like to come here and tourists find there way also to this little shop. They also have a little smoking room.
