The Store Coffeeshop is a small shop on the north end of the Singel canal. This is a very busy area of the city center, which sees a great deal of tourist traffic. Understandably, the beautiful architecture and ample businesses in the area is a major draw.
This is a rock ‘n’ roll themed shop. As expected, they play a lot of 60’s and 70’s classic rock in here. The main focus of the décor also reflects this era of music. For a long time this shop was actually known as “The Doors Coffeeshop”, though they recently rebranded. Jim Morrison and The Doors photographs, as well as other memorabilia, still line the walls.
The inside has not changed much. Aside from this, the interior is fairly traditional for a Dutch coffeeshop. There is a lot of wood, and not a lot of frills. Outside you will find two picnic-style benches, once custom painted with an early likeness of Morrison (sadly, now just plain). These are prime seats on a sunny afternoon, probably more so due to the location than the art. This is a busy area of the city, as well as the Singel canal. The corner often draws quite a crowd at times. Presumably, the benches contribute to this. Sitting waterside here with a good smoke can make for a pleasant time.
The cannabis menu at The Store Coffeeshop is a bit unique. Instead of using a standard printed or digital product list, they keep a “dark box”. You will find it on the left side of the counter. Next to the box sits a large red button. When you hold it down, the inside of the box lights up, revealing physical samples and prices of their offerings. There is a mix of hashish and weed strains, generally more traditional varieties (old-school Amsterdam weed strains and imported pressed hashish).
Aside from cannabis, they also offer coffee and some standard drinks and snacks. However, this is far from a full service shop. They have the basics, if they are needed.
This shop is featured in our 368 page Hardcover book CONNOISSEUR GUIDE: AMSTERDAM COFFEESHOPS. A MUST-HAVE for any serious visitor to the Amsterdam scene, it is the first book ever to profile all 168 coffeeshops in the city, with vivid full-color pictures, detailed descriptions, amenities, and locals/regulars recommendations for the "best of" shops in a variety of categories.

The Doors Coffeeshop is situated on the busy and picturesque Singel canal. This is a rock n’ roll themed establishment, typically playing a mix of popular hits and deep cuts from the 1960s and 70s. The Doors is ideal place to visit if you really “dig” classic R&R music.
