Balou

in Various Other

The atmosphere of the shop is also very relaxed and welcoming. This particular shop takes its name from the famous children’s story Jungle Book. Specifically, the lovable talking bear named Baloo (in Dutch, Balou).

Sensemillia Osdorp

in Tobacco

Sensemillia Osdorp is found on the upstairs of a modern standalone building right on the lakefront. The shop is fairly standard for a dutch coffeeshop, minus one very unique feature. They have an outdoor terrace with a stunning view of the lake.

Rock It

in Vapor Lounges, Tobacco

Rock It is a "down to earth" dutch coffeeshop. There aren't a lot of frills here. Instead, it focuses on the basics. Like most shops in the vicinity, they have a nice stretch of outdoor seating to take advantage of the scenery and bustling activity.

The Saint

in Various Other

The decor in here would be best described as "jungle theme". There is a great deal of mural art on the walls to that effect, complimented by colorful lighting. The Saint Coffeeshop also has a long row of tables and chairs outside the shop.

Goa

in Various Other

The décor of Goa coffeeshop is best compared to a nicer sit-down Asian restaurant. A lot of the furniture here is dark wood, and Asian in style. There are also red couches, black leather stools, hanging birdcage lights, and Asian inspired artwork.

Rick's Coffeeshop

in Various Other

Rick's Coffeeshop stands out as a unique place for a few reasons. First, it has beautiful outdoor seating directly on the canal; prime real estate. They also have a great sister cafe next door, and, well, an unusual set of bus seats on the inside.

Reefer

in Various Other

Reefer is hard to miss if you are looking for it. Two large red neon signs serve as beacons for finding the place. The decor of Reefer is quite traditional for a Dutch coffeeshop. Polished wood dominates the interior.

3 Floors Lounge

in Various Other

3 Floors Lounge, formerly Andalucia, is located on the south side of the Amstel canal, just adjacent to Rembrantplein. This shop has three levels, which makes it quite roomy inside. The décor would be best described as simple, but contemporary.

Kooi

in Various Other

The word Kooi is Dutch, and translates in English as Birdcage. It is hard to put this shop in words, but abstract, artistic, and modern keep coming to mind. Though one of the newest shops here, we think Kooi is already an Amsterdam original.
