New Times would be best described as a modern coffeeshop. The interior is highly polished. Clean hardwood floors frame the room, and the shop is accented with purple lighting and trim. They have recessed lighting, and other contemporary fixtures.
The Sprit is an establishment that would be best described as a cross between a traditional dutch coffeeshop, and a retro amusement center. It has a full wall of pinball machines... arcade games... There is no other place like it in Amsterdam!
This shop might just be “the” place for the visiting celebrity stoner. The atmosphere is upscale. The menu is excellent, and boasts many internationally famous strains. Perhaps most importantly though, it is far enough from the center to be quiet.
CoffeeshopAmsterdam is aesthetically impressive, with a combination of exposed brick, modern furnishings, and cool lighting that makes this shop contemporary and inviting. Sister shop to Tweede Kamer, and a connoisseur establishment.
For a long time this establishment was known as Utopia, but changed hands in early 2018 to become The Plug. Interestingly, the new owner also runs The Plug cannabis club in Barcelona, which is quite well known for its connoisseur products.
Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 132
This coffeeshop is owned by the proprietors of Siberië, The Loft, and De Supermarkt. The management has been quite serious about weed, often focusing on the more contemporary high-potency strains. All four are regarded as connoisseur coffeeshops.
Tweede Nassaustraat 1B
Softland is a theme coffeeshop. Walking into this establishment feels like you are entering a spaceship. The closest thing we can liken it to would be the Ripley Scott movie Alien. The room is long, the floor is metal, and your steps reverberate.
This shop was once the sister to the original Betty Boop coffeeshop (now the sole location), which was near the red light district. That shop was famously known as one of the places in Amsterdam that Quentin Tarantino wrote much of Pulp Fiction.
Stone's Coffeeshop is a longstanding brand in Amsterdam, which established itself in the main Red Light District. This location in Amsterdam Zuid is their newest, and unfortunately only remaining. This coffeeshop is take-and-go; no smoking lounge.
Bros is a Hunter's location. This coffeeshop with a contemporary smoking lounge is found in a shopping center on Waterlandplein. Practically hidden, a purple and white neon sign above the door is probably the only thing you notice from the road.
